Johnson Controls Arabia (JCA), a leading provider of integrated solutions that include HVAC equipment, fire and security systems, building management systems and controls in MENA, signed an agreement with Egyptians for Healthcare Services (EHCS) to provide the largest smart medical city in the Middle East, CAPITAL MED, with its cutting-edge Saudi-made integrated solutions for building automation and management.
Commenting on the agreement, Dr. Mohanad Al Shaikh, CEO, Johnson Controls Arabia, said: “Nurturing the local industrial market has always been a keen commitment for us at Johnson Controls Arabia to provide premier innovative solutions that are manufactured locally to uplift projects across the regional markets. Catering to this regional landmark project is a continuation to our successful presence in the Egyptian market as it follows our contribution to the recently concluded COP27 conference in Sharm El Sheikh. We take pride of being a leading provider and exporter of world-class Saudi products and solutions to make building all over the region smarter, healthier, and more sustainable.”
In accordance with the terms of the agreement, Johnson Controls Arabia will be powering CAPITAL MED with its world-leading smart building automation system, Metasys. The intelligent technology system will integrate the mega project’s commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, security, and protection systems on a single platform. Through the platform, all systems can communicate to deliver the information necessary to make decisions that boost building efficiency while enhancing the comfort, safety, and productivity of occupants.
Johnson Controls Arabia will also be responsible for implementing fire safety systems, public address systems (internal broadcasting) and voice alarm systems (PA/VA) in the first phase of CAPITAL MED. These systems will ensure safe and orderly evacuations of buildings in emergency situations.
CAPITAL MED will offer 19 specialized, integrated healthcare centers, two hotels, and a shopping mall. Initially, it will launch its first phase in 2023. This phase will include a multi-specialty university hospital with 532 beds, an outpatient complex that includes 168 clinics and 30 dialysis units, an advanced simulation center for education and training, a virtual hospital, a command-and-control center, and a central services station. It is worth mentioning that the construction of the project will require an investment of approximately $1.2 billion and is expected to provide 15,000 job opportunities.
